Sustainable Textile

Before talking about sustainable textiles, we would like to briefly explain what the concept of sustainability is. Sustainability, in its shortest definition, means meeting today’s needs without stealing from tomorrow’s needs. In other words, it means acting from today with the future in mind. This should be a way of thinking that we must adopt in every aspect of our lives, otherwise our world, where we act like its owner but are only guests, will have to remind us of this. Sustainable textiles and slow fashion are concepts that we have encountered a lot in recent times but have only recently met. Slow Fashion is a movement that emerged against rapidly changing trends and fast production. “The basic philosophy of the Slow Fashion movement is to produce long-lasting, high-quality, timeless products. It aims to produce this production with local resources, local fashion styles and natural materials. In order to understand slow fashion, it is necessary to briefly mention fast fashion. Fast fashion offers high-volume, low-priced, single-season wearable products depending on seasons and trends. Constantly changing trends and low-priced products lead consumers to buy more than they need. Excessive consumption comes back as a heavy price for nature and workers. Slow fashion, on the other hand, slows down the entire process with the values it puts forward, while supporting the processes of creating, producing and consuming focused on humans and nature.
